“A place for everything” – Carpenter Patrik on the interior of the work van

For carpenter Patrik Skoglund at Silje Bygg AB, the service van is more than just a means of transport – it’s a mobile workshop. With van racking from System Edström, he has created a working environment where order and structure keep him ready for any type of job, from new builds and repairs to emergency water damage.

The same foundation – personal structure

Patrik has worked at Silje Bygg in Sweden since 2014 and has over 15 years of experience as a carpenter. The company has around ten employees and takes on a wide variety of projects.

Since 2015, Patrik has had his current van racking in a Volkswagen Transporter – a system he took over from his manager.

– We have roughly the same setup in all of our 5–6 vans, even if the details differ. Many like to keep drawers close to the door for quick access, says Patrik.

However, if he were to swap vans with a colleague, it might take a little time to find everything:

–  You always know where you keep your own things. Everyone has their own system.

Optimized for everyday work

Patrik has made only a few changes to the interior, but one important adjustment was creating space for a ladder and ensuring the floor is always clear.

– Sometimes we need to transport large boards such as plastic, chipboard, or insulation. In the case of water damage, we can take demolition material directly from the customer’s site so it doesn’t have to be left outside. That’s why it’s important to keep the central aisle free, he explains.

Favorite features in the van

When asked which part of the System Edström interior he couldn’t do without, Patrik answers without hesitation:

– The drawers. They’re practical, spacious, and make it easy to find my tools. I have my own system and know exactly where everything is – from tie-down straps at the bottom to extra hammers and machines in other drawers.

Always being prepared is an essential part of the job:

– We might arrive to fix a door and suddenly need to replace the hinges. That’s when it’s great to have all the tools and screws with us – because you never know what to expect.
