Just like for vans, you can organise your car with van racking from us. With shelves, drawers and accessories, you create order in the boot and ensure safer driving when everything is kept in place. Read more about our van racking for vans and pick-ups as well.

Smart van racking for smaller vehicles too

Installing racking in cars is becoming increasingly common in service and emergency operations. One reason is that cars are often easier to manoeuvre in hard-to-reach environments, for example for the fire and rescue service. At the same time, the need for structure and easily accessible equipment is just as great as in a van.

But van racking is of course also ideal for those who use their car in everyday life and want to keep better order of tools, equipment or other items that would otherwise be loose in the trunk.

Typically, the entire rear section of the car is fitted out with shelves and drawers in the load area, along with storage you can easily access through the rear doors. The solution is often complemented with accessories such as hooks to keep everything in place.

Tips on how to fit out your passenger car:

  • Extended drawers – for maximum use of the entire load space.
  • Drawers in various sizes – choose size and configuration to suit your needs and make full use of the vehicle’s height.
  • Load securing kit – complete with nylon straps, also available with a holder for convenient storage.
  • Airline rails – perfect with load securing kits for easily strapping down tools and equipment.
  • Fire extinguisher with wall bracket – an important accessory, available in 2, 4 or 6 kg.

Van racking for maximum storage

At the Solutrans trade fair in France, a Renault 4 was displayed with van racking from us. The solution makes maximum use of the available space with five drawers and a practical sliding platform chassis at the top. The sliding platform chassis can be pulled out of the vehicle and then serves as an extra work surface or storage area.

This is just one of several examples of how you can choose to fit out your car. Photos of this solution, along with further suggestions for passenger car racking, can be found in the slideshow below, with solutions developed by our body builders.

Don’t forget load securing and registration inspection

Correct load securing is always important for safety in the vehicle. It reduces the risk of injury to both driver, passengers, equipment and the vehicle itself. According to the Swedish Transport Agency, cargo moves in all directions during travel, forwards, backwards and sideways. During heavy braking, loose items can cause serious injuries if they are not properly secured.

Another important consideration when fitting out your car are the requirements for registration inspection. In a passenger car, you must undergo a registration inspection if you make changes that affect the vehicle’s construction or how it is used. This applies for example if you remove or open up the rear seat, thereby changing the number of passengers the vehicle is approved for, or if you make other modifications that alter the design of the vehicle. More information about how a registration inspection works can be found here.
