Lightweight, crash-tested racking for electric work vans
Electric vans are built to move tools, materials and people, but lots of extra kilogram in the load space could cost you range. System Edström van racking is manufactured in high-strength steel: a material so efficient that it comes with high strength at lower weight.
Our racking is crash-tested to NS286, the INRS-developed standard that subjects van racking to a 50 km/h impact with an 80% load. It is also fully modular, so it can be tailored to your exact trade, van model and workflow.
More van racking for your money. More jobs on a single charge.
Why choosing an electric van and the right racking is good for the planet
Switching to an electric van is one of the most impactful choices a tradesperson can make for the environment. At System Edström, we think the racking inside it should match that commitment. That’s why we manufacture most of our shelving in SSAB Zero, recycled steel produced from reclaimed scrap using fossil-free energy, with near-zero CO₂ emissions (less than 0.05 kg CO₂e per kg of steel). Same strength. Same quality. A fraction of the environmental footprint. The result is racking that’s not only built to last, but built with the future in mind. Our new dropfront shelves in SSAB Zero are 35% lighter than their predecessors, saving approximately 21 tonnes of steel and around 60 tonnes of CO₂ in production each year. Add in the emissions savings from reduced vehicle weight over a working lifetime, and the numbers stack up fast. So when you fit your electric van with System Edström racking, you’re not just investing in a smarter working day. You’re completing the picture, a clean vehicle, clean steel, and a racking system that’s been built responsibly from the ground up.
